Travel & Visa

EBSS2016 will be held from July 17 to July 24, 2016 at NSCL/Michigan State University.

To/From East Lansing
We expect participants to arrive on July 17. There will be an active program on Saturday July 23, so please plan on leaving on Sunday July 24. NSCL is located on the campus of MSU, in East Lansing, Michigan. The nearest airport is Lansing Capital Region International Airport (LAN), from which your hotel can be reached by taxi in about 20 minutes (hotel can also provide a shuttle). Alternatively, one can fly to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne Country Airport (DTW), which is serviced by all major airlines. A convenient and cost effective alternative to renting a car, is using the Michigan Flyer bus service from DTW, which stops in downtown East Lansing, from which one can use a taxi or take a local bus (line 1) (from "#1658 along Grand River Ave, closest to Michigan Flyer bus stop" to "the nearest bus stop to the hotel : westbound #4" Frandor Center).

Visa information
For foreign attendees, please make sure of your visa requirements for entering the US.

If you can make use of the Visa Waiver Program, please check requirements (your nationality, etc) for using this program at this site. Your travel purpose would be "Business" (attending an educational conference or a short-term summer program). Note that even if you fall under the waiver program, a travel authorization via ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) is still required and must be obtained prior to your entry into the US.

If you cannot make use of the Visa Waiver Program, you must ensure that you obtain a valid business visa (B-1) for entering the US. Such an application takes time and you should start the process as soon as possible. Also, please contact us immediately.
