Homework #5 (aka midterm preparation for points) has been posted. There is no computational homework this week.

The solutions for Homeworks #3 and #4 will be posted early next week.

I will hold additional office hours on Thursday, Oct 3, from 2-4pm (tentative time, watch for updates/announcements during Monday’s class).

Homework #4 has been posted. Please note: Some of the problems touch upon subjects that will only be discussed on Monday and Wednesday, because I was a bit slower than anticipated discussing the material this week and had to get the homework set ready before my trip. If you want to get started on the problems with damping and velocity-dependent potentials, have a look at section 1.5 in Goldstein’s book.

The lectures will get ahead of the homeworks again since the next set is mainly midterm preparation problems (for points).

September 18, 2019
The solution to homework set #1 has been added to the GitLab repository. (Solutions will not be posted on the website in order to control access.)

September 14, 2019
Homework #3 and supplementary reading materials on nonholonomic constraints have been posted. Lecture notes have been updated as well.

September 13, 2019
Midterms are scheduled for Fr 10/4, and Fr 11/8 (tentatively), during class. There will be no computational homework due in those weeks, and regular homeworks will heavily lean towards midterm preparation problems.

September 7, 2019
The first batch of typed lecture notes is available here. Check back regularly for updated versions.

September 6, 2019
Homework #2 has been posted. Schedule and reading assignments for week 3 have been updated.

September 6, 2019
The deadline for the computational homework will be fuzzy this week while students are dealing with assorted GitLab issues. More explicit information on the GitLab homework workflow has been added here.
